No
55 on our first trip to Slimbridge |
|||
|
No55 came into our lives in December 2021. Since then we have travelled around
southern England and Wales on mainly short Mon-Thur or Tues-Fri trips
purposely avoiding the busy weekends.
Our first trip was to visit the WWT site at Slimbridge in mid-December
- a good test run to a very quiet camp site just a short walk away from the
birding. Thankfully it proved that the
heating was working fine (in fact, quite toastie in the van!) and that we had
a bottle opener. Unfortunately it also
proved we didn't have a can opener!!! |

This year (2025) we planned a longer trip to Cornwall
taking in both the north and south coasts.
We spent time Tintagel specifically to visit the King Arthur's Great
Halls to see the wonderful stained glass windows by Veronica Whall. We weren’t disappointed – they were
stunning. |

On the south coast we visited Mevagissey and the Lost
Gardens of Heligan. We have had short trips to Cardiff, Bognor Regis,
Grafham Water and Stow but hope to get away more before we head to NZ. We continue to travel abroad (without No 55!!), taking a
long voyage from the tip of Argentina to South Georgia, Gough Island,
Nightingale Island, Inaccessible, Tristan Da Cunha, Saint Helena, Boatswain
Bird Island (Ascension Island) and Cabo Verde. Later this year we head to New Zealand. |
